Union Station, one of the most popular of Nashville's landmarks, was completed in 1900. It was jointly financed by the Louisville and Nashville Railroad and the Nashville, Chattanooga and Saint Louis Railroad. It is the region's best example of Romanesque architecture and still signifies the importance of rail transportation for people and goods in the early years of the twentieth century. This 1998 lithograph shows it as the sturcture appeared in 1914.

The statue of Mercury was first unveiled at the Tennessee Centennial in 1897. It fell from the top of the tower in 1952 and was melted down to make plaques. The digital clock was a first of its kind. The rails on brick-paved Broadway were for the much utilized electric streetcars.

The Marathon automobiles were made in Nashville in 1914. The red car is a Winner Roadster and the dark blue is a Runner Touring model. Permission to use the Marathon automobiles was given by Marathon Village in Nashville.
