The Belted Galloway is an heirloom breed of beef cattle originating in the mountainous region of Galloway in southwestern Scotland. They are distinquished by their thick coats and white belt banding their middle.

The Hermitage is home to a small herd of Belted Galloways, where they enjoy foraging in several different pastures surrounding the mansion. When Andrew Jackson lived at The Hermitage he did not have these particular cattle, but did stock his farmlands with several cows, hogs and sheep.

In the background of this 2006 print is a side view of Jackson's beloved home and the tomb where he and his wife Rachel are buried.
